For portable work i always had a Yaesu FT857 and a Kenwood TS-480SAT
The TS-480 i really love. wath a performer. But i had always two radio’s on holyday with us and thats is a bit to much. Also the VHF part of the FT857 give problems. the display has stripes and the freq. was walking during transmission. so that give alot of ………..
after a long time of thinking and searching i did see the FT-991A and that is a radio who has it all. (the FT857 was a very high noise radio and recieve was terrible). but i can say (there are better radio’s) i was really supprised. and very happy with this radio. So looking forward to go on travel with our 4×4 and Roof top tent. and make a lot of contacts. So hope fully covid-19 is soon away .
